What is Female Hair Transplant?
In a female hair transplant, techniques like FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) or FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) are typically used. In FUE, individual hair follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area and then transplanted into the thinning or balding areas on the scalp. In FUT, a strip of scalp is removed from the donor area, and the follicles are extracted and transplanted. The procedure is minimally invasive, usually performed under local anesthesia, and takes several hours, depending on the extent of the transplant. Since the follicles are taken from the patient’s own scalp, the results tend to be natural and permanent, with minimal risk of rejection. The transplanted hair will continue to grow like natural hair, blending seamlessly with the existing hair.
What To Expect After The Procedure
After a female hair transplant, the recovery process generally involves some mild discomfort, swelling, and redness around the transplant and donor areas, which typically subsides within a few days. Some scabbing may form on the transplanted areas, but this is normal and will heal on its own. It is also common for the transplanted hair to shed within the first few weeks, as the hair follicles enter a resting phase before new growth begins. Hair growth typically starts to appear around 3 to 6 months after the procedure, with full results visible in about 9 to 12 months. During this time, the transplanted hair gradually thickens, blends with the existing hair, and becomes more noticeable. Post-procedure care is essential, including avoiding strenuous physical activity, protecting the scalp from sun exposure, and following a gentle hair care routine. Follow-up appointments may be scheduled to monitor the progress and ensure the best outcome.
